Somehow, I managed to avoid this place for the 10 years it's been open. Perhaps that is because I was never a big wine fan. Fast forward and now I am a certified wino. When my friends suggested this spot for our bi-monthly Important Ladies' Meeting, I jumped at the chance to finally check it out.
The concept is amazing. You put down your credit card and get your own personalized wine debit card. Then, you make your way around a room of fairly organized wine tables. Each table, has the wine on this automatic dispenser, with digital displays that tell you the cost of pour, by ounces. Fantastic.
Now to the not so great part. This place is expensive. I mean insanely expensive. The cost of a 6 ounce pour of The Prisoner (which you can buy a bottle retail for $45) gave me asthma. Needless to say, I was floating around the $12 pours and there were not that many. The atmosphere is pretty good, kind of like a comfortable library. We tried several appetizers and nothing really stood out, good or bad. Unfortunately, the prices mean I will not be back. Too bad the execution of the concept is not within my budget.
