| - Called Cool Blew out for a loss of AC in the heat of the Phoenix summer. No where near as good an experience as the first time. This was a self pay and NOT a home warranty claim. This is beside the point this unit was a 2 year old Carrier unit installed by the builder in a new home. The came out on Wednesday, charged $69 for the evaluation. Said he would call back the next morning with an estimate. I hadn't heard from them by about 10:30 so I called them. They said they would get back to me. They called about 1 PM, and gave me the estimate of $90/hour for labor, plus parts, if not covered by a mfg warranty. I knew the parts were covered, so approved the work and they scheduled me for the repair between 1 and 5 on Friday. At 4:45 on Friday, the tech called and said his last job took longer than expected and the parts store closed at 4:30, so he couldn't get to us until Monday. It was over 100-110 degrees and we had no AC, only ceiling fans. Seems to me there were three options for staying within their original, promised timeframe: (1) he could have picked the parts up earlier in the day, (2) someone from his company could have picked up the parts, or (3) he could have called me and I would have been glad to pick them up.
Monday, he came out about 9:15 AM. Even though the parts were covered by the mfg warranty, but there was a $69 warranty paperwork processing fee? They also charged $181, which they claim was the time to disassemble the unit on their first trip out (when they collected $69) and for installation and reassembly once they finally came out (after we had a very miserable weekend of very uncomfortable heat), for a total invoice of $250. I give them a 2 star this time because they did get the work done, and I really don't want to give out 1 star, not sure why.
