| - I love this park, it's on my running route. Running in from the path on Spadina, you can either go up the brutal concrete stairs, or up the not-so gentle gravel incline around the hill. Then up some softer wooden stairs that end in a path around the entire park.
At the top of the stairs, you will see a big fenced-in dog park, which is almost always full of dogs chasing balls, sticks and each other. Past the dog park is a tennis court which is very busy in the summer, offering some more distraction while your lungs are exploding and you feel your heartbeat in your ears. You go by the great little playground and around a huge field where people hold soccer skills classes and booty bootcamps. The track is roughly 1 kilometre (I think) and it's all gravel, which is a little nicer on the knees than sidewalk.
When you get sick of the track, it's back down the stairs (getting a good look at where some kids like to toboggan in the winter) and under the bridge for a nice run on the path in the forest. This is the worst (best) part of my run. The ground is a little less packed and it's seemingly uphill all the way to the end. It's like a little piece of woodland paradise, only with a glimpse into the backyards of the wealthy and spotted with the tents of the homeless. At the end, you meet another set of wooden stairs and run/crawl your way towards the light, towards the street. At the top, you mentally high five yourself and limp home.
