| - I'm saddened by the trend where many businesses today make it blatantly obvious they are interested in your wallet rather than listening to your needs.
We recently added another new puppy to our home and decided to try this new location. Our first puppy now a year old is a Corgi and we were fortunate to get her a sibling from the same parents. Because we recently have just raised the first Corgi, we had a good handle on the annual costs and shots she needed. When I called in to share what I was looking for they scheduled me with ease and I was looking forward to meeting Dr. Boyd and her team.
From the early part of my appointment, I realized the staff where not entirely skilled at listening. I had to repeat myself on several occasions when discussing my needs. But assuming positive intent, it was the first appointment and understand mornings are not for everyone. So I moved on and then came my consultation with Dr. Boyd. Over the next 35 minutes I was informed of every possible disease, and virus that my Corgi can contract. From the Lice and Ticks, to Parvo, heart worm and Arsenic, I immediately was apprehensive. I literally just shared how I raised a Corgi over the last year and that I was looking for her shots and even specifically asked for them, yet Dr. Boyd chuckled a bit then when on to validate her 20 plus year pedigree practicing. She then recommended an alternate program schedule for my dog. Although her talking points were sound and likely preventive, the options and costs quickly convinced me of her intentions, money. She made it a point to say that she provides and estimate first to make sure we are informed of the services and that her assistant would come in and share.
It was from this moment when I reviewed their suggested schedule and cost, of which were inflated and included additional preventive testing and consultations. I kindly shared with the assistant that I was not going to proceed. I prefaced that I wasn't going to just share my concerns on Yelp but that I would share some candid feedback on why I was objecting to do business with them. I shared that the experience since walking in had nothing but a sales pitch and that although I can appreciate the information by the Doctor, I did question the savviness of their approach to keep selling me when there really wasn't a relationship with them nor did I feel they understood what I needed. I shared my recent experiencing raising the exact breed just a year ago and the cost they were trying to charge me was excessive and not really convincing. The assistant said ok and said they were going to just charge me $52. Although I disagree in them charging me, I paid my balanced and thanked them for their time.
