| - Lined up for an hr for this...at first the line seemed to move fast so we decided to line up, but half way thru it just started to slow down for some reason. Came here at 9pm on a Friday night, didn't get served until 10pm and by then 4 flavors were already sold out.
I tried the Mr Grey, which was Earl Grey ice cream rolls topped with whipped cream, a piece of waffle, crushed almonds and condensed milk. My boyfriend had Miss Black, which was Black sesame ice cream rolls topped with grass jelly. ($6.50 each) Essentially they are pour a cup of the cream liquid on to the ice grill and stir fry the ice cream until it freezes. Then they scrape the ice cream into rolls. It actually is quite a lot of ice cream. The texture of the ice cream is a little too thick and hard in my opinion, but the flavors are strong and not too sweet. I'm not sure if its because its too cold/icy, but when you eat it you can feel the ice cream sort of sit at the top of your mouth for awhile like it's stuck. The earl grey was really good, the color threw me off a bit as I thought they gave me Thai iced tea since it was brown, but I think it's because it was earl grey milk tea. I've had better earl grey ice cream elsewhere. The black sesame was really sesamey which slightly offset the ice cream feel - almost like you are eating grind cold black sesame and lacked some sweet ice cream taste. Overall it was a nice experience to watch them make it, an interesting eat but more so a gimmick.
I really think they should write down the ingredients/toppings that they add to their ice cream. Especially they when they actually DO have toppings that are nut related (crushed almonds). I know they have a sign that says their ice cream is not made in a nutfree environment, but it makes a difference when you are actually putting nuts in your ice cream.
