In lieu of a birthday cake, my friend brought along a sampling of cake slices from Millie - 4 servings of crepe cakes (champagne & strawberries, rose, matcha, earl grey tea) and 1 serving of the matcha adzuki cheesecake.
Let the tasting begin! Matcha (green tea) cheesecake is more dense than I'm used to and could be a bit lighter, and adzuki (red bean) buttercream reminds me of red bean ice-cream. All the crepe cakes comprised of many moist and fluffy crepe layers (lost count) with fresh cream in between. The slices left a few of us wondering how they cut it up so nicely without messing up the layers (maybe a wire saw or laser beam was involved)! Champagne & strawberries was our favourite - taste of champagne was light and not overpowering but strawberry flavour seemed to be lost in the mix. Runner up went to earl grey, followed by matcha, both are very flavourful. The rose one was too pungent and over powering and I felt like I'm eating some hand cream/lotion.
The price was a bit steep but given the time and effort required to make such a cake it is justified. Overall very good cakes, definitely a nice break from the usual suspects from other bakeries.
