  • One of the worst golf experiences I've ever had. And what a waste - the course was beautiful and challenging (especially in 40 degree weather with 20+mph wind blowing constantly.) I played with a couple of inexperienced players, and we were the second group out on the Sun Mountain course. There were a 3 groups of regulars behind us that were riding our tails the first few holes (even with us moving quickly, ignoring lost balls, not putting out if we're close to the hole, etc), so we tried to wave them through, but they refused since they all were friends playing together. So we kept playing, but were warned twice by the marshall to improve our pace of play. After the second time (on the 8th hole), we were asked to skip a hole and come back to it later. I checked my watch, and we were UNDER 2 hours for the first 8 holes (right on appropriate pace of play.) Whatever - we'll come back later and play the 9th hole, get away from the faster players, and enjoy our day. A few holes later on #13, they're right back on us again, hitting up on us, and the marshall's asking us to speed up again. I showed him the time on my phone, and informed him we were now 15 minutes UNDER the pace of play, so he left and never bothered us again. We finished our round (including going back to #9) at 4:05 - 25 minutes under pace of play. It turns out the groups behind us were locals trying to squeeze in 3 rounds, so they made our day miserable and the marshall seemed to be helping them out. I complained to the course manager, and he gave me his card and offered to take care of us next time, but for $100+/person, this should have never happened in the first place. Too many nice courses in Vegas to deal with crap like that. Oh yeah - and with it nearly freezing outside and the wind howling, they charge you an extra $20 to get a cart with plastic wrapped around it. Nice way to nickle and dime your customers...
