As a SPG Platinum member, I have stayed in my fair share of Westin hotels. This property has great potential. Not all rooms and floors are open yet. Their club lounge is not open yet. The gym however is open and is better equipped than most Westins I have stayed at. Quality, brand new equipment. Dumbbells that go up to 100 LBS, rarely seen at any hotel gym, but the Westin has them.
Front desk staff is not up to usual Westin standards. Was told there were no suites available. Came back later and a different staff was on duty. I was placed in a nice suite. I was not offered the Platinum welcome gift. Minor inconveniences. Was told only handicapped rooms have tubs- others are showers. Later found out from housekeeping that this is not the case. Assume this is a training issue. Asked to speak to a GM or Front Desk Supervisor. None could be located so after 20 minutes of waiting, I got a name and phone number.
I had a great experience with my housekeeper Miss Pamela. And the front doormen were very polite. One of them ran across the street and saved me from parking at a meter that was in a no parking from 4pm-7pm zone. He saved me the cost of the ticket and carried my bags over to the hotel.
Starbucks inside the lobby is very friendly and can be billed to the room. Got a smoothie to go from room service. Took awhile but it was good.
Was upgraded to a nice suite. Bed and linens were excellent. The Samsung flat screen TV was at least 55 inches and had a ton of hi-def stations. Very nice.
The Urban Farmer steakhouse adjoining the lobby is very good. Far better than usual hotel food and an excellent selection of handcrafted cocktails. Nice bourbon and scotch list also.
Once the front desk service gets up to Westin standards, I would gladly return if in town.
