| - I was recently in Las Vegas with a bunch of my closest women friends - "girls weekend" in Vegas with all of us celebrating our upcoming 50th birthdays. Anyway, we were doing a lot of wandering about the strip on our last night, and we stumbled across this restaurant. I immediately lost my mind as I LOVE Bobby Flay! I completely forgot to look up restaurants ahead of time, so this was thrilling for me to come across it accidentally.
I bargained with them to have a late dinner (taking time out of our wanderings). We wandered in on a Saturday night around 8:30pm and were lucky enough to get the last large table. All of us were having a hard time deciding what to order because everything on the menu looked AMAZING. We ended up asking the waiter for guidance.
For an appetizer, he suggested the Tiger Shrimp which he advised had won awards. Since there were five of us, I ordered two. I wish I'd ordered five. They were AMAZING. They also brought out a bread basket full of blue corn muffins and asiago bread which was very good as well.
We all decided to have a different entree so we would have the benefit of being able to try all the dishes. I ordered the New Mexican Spice Rubbed Pork Tenderloin (picture below). It comes with a bourbon-ancho chili sauce drizzled over it and a sweet potato tamale with crushed pecan butter. Honest to go, I swear on my Mother, this had to be the best pork I've had in my life. There was so much flavor, and a nice little kick to it. The tamale was not too sweet, but enough to take the edge off the spice on the pork. If I could've gotten away with licking the plate, I would have.
My wife ordered the lamb chops, and honestly, i was afraid to get my hands or fingers anywhere near her plate.. Lamb chops are her favorite thing to eat, and she has always said that Morton's Steakhouse had the best she'd ever had.. until now. She said Mesa Grill made Morton's look like Burger King (if BK served lamb chops - LOL).
The other girls had the 16 spiced rubbed chicken, the mahi mahi and the salmon. All conversation stopped at the table, and it was really just a series of moans.
We were all so full, and I was bummed because the desserts looked outstanding. We opted to share an order of the homemade churros because there were conveniently five to an order. They were fluffy and light and just the perfect amount of sweet to end an awesome night.
I don't go to Vegas often at all, but I would fly back there just to eat at Mesa Grill again.
Our server, Mike F, was entertaining, efficient and professional.. We all enjoyed him very much. I believe one of my friends has a selfie with him floating around on Facebook.
If you are in Vegas, take the time to eat here.
