| - This is the longest review I've ever written, but if it can save people some money and time while hopefully changing Print Three's terrible business practices, it's worth it. TLDR: These people are terrible photographers, and even worse, thieves. If I could give a zero I would. DO NOT USE. In any case, here goes:
This is the most appalling service / customer service I've ever received in Toronto, and I've lived here my whole life. I came to get my passport photos done. Two were printed, one of which I had to get signed by a guarantor (another person) so that I could renew my passport. When I went to renew my passport, I was told that the pictures failed to meet the standards needed to use the photos as passport pictures. Since the guarantor who signed the picture had left town since signing it, and I personally am leaving town in a few weeks, they said they could keep the signed photo in my file, but not use it for the actual passport photo. I was given an OFFICIAL government document which was dated with an official stamp saying that the photos were too crappy to use. The kind lady told me that any business would give me a refund with this document. She also told me I had an hour to get a new photo if I didn't want to wait in line again for another few hours. I went downstairs and got my photo retaken by a different place (payed again) and used that one instead.
This is where it gets interesting. I go back to Print Three with the document and ask for a refund. The photo that was too bad to use had Print Three stamped on the back, so they couldn't deny it wasn't theirs. First they tried to get me to just take the pictures again. I explained there was no point, as I'd already gone somewhere else since they'd failed to take good pictures to begin with and in any case I had to submit them within the hour provided. They asked where the second picture was. I explained that the signed picture had been kept in my file, and that I couldn't have used a new picture because my guarantor had left town. The lady at the passport office only accepted it because she was very nice. "NO TWO PICTURES, NO REFUND". "But sir," I say, "your job was to give me photos I could use for my passport, and the photos didn't meet the standard. I have an official government document stating this." The guy turns around to the manager who just shakes his head. "NO". "Sir, how can any self respecting business not offer a refund when they failed at what they were paid for?" "I'M CALLING SECURITY!" he threatens. I've never had security called on me ever, but felt justified enough to say "please do." Meanwhile, this other employee comes out of the woodwork to be a little hero in front of his obviously sketchy boss. "You could've printed the document yourself." Really? I could've printed a government document and got an official stamp myself? So I could save 10 dollars? 10 dollars isn't the end of the world, but at this point it was the principle of it. As I keep making my points (how many times can you say the same thing over and over - if people are trying to steal, they will) the security officer comes. Seemed like a pretty reasonable guy. I told him it obviously wasn't his job to hear me out, but if he wanted me to I would tell him. It was clear to him I think that I wasn't causing a problem at all, so he heard me out. At the end he said, "I'm really sorry, but if the store owners want you out I have to make sure you leave..." No problem, I understand. I left.
This place is operated by incompetent photographers and thieves. I can't believe scams like this are allowed to run in Toronto. Terrible business, unpleasant people. There's a really great place called Y&Z right beside the Passport Office (convenient) that actually provides photos that can be used.
