| - I broke in at the Golden Gate in 1991 after going to a terrible school Downtown that had me take out student loans and ultimately pay $3000 for 3 games.
After a long career as a casino dealer and supervisor with 12 different properties, I started my own IT business here in Las Vegas and sold it a few years later.
Fast forward through lots of Netflix and some hobby fails and I decided it was time to return to my first love of dealing dice.
I first signed up with Crescent after seeing their tv commercials and getting flipped by a very good recruiter. I showed up for 2 dice classes and got my money refunded. Next time I would make sure to watch a class and see the teachers in action before enrolling.
Next up, I did the "tour" of dealer schools. This time I asked questions and refused to be sold the same day.
Nicks school, good guy, the girl I met was very nice, but nothing stood out. It also looked really slow, but maybe it was just that day.
PCI, lots of red flags especially with his "reviews" that all read like ads from lots of people with just the 1 review of his school and many from non-English speakers who have better grammar than me. I hate that about Amazon too now, its become so hard to discern what is true or not. (Update: I was at CEG a few days ago and a current student of PCI came in and told us that he watched the owner take a students phone and write the review himself, I knew it!! LOL) I like a good price, but I also know you get what you pay for. We are talking about a whole career, not a pair of socks.
Then I met Alex at CEG. Right away you know you are talking to someone who cares. No sales tactics, just lots of honesty. If you spend even 1 hour at the school you will see Alex on his phone and computer non stop setting up Auditions, talking to Casinos, helping students with their applications, resumes, even IRONING a students shirt.
Then you meet the instructors. Lisa with 20+ years and a former Casino Manager. Alex from the Wynn and Cosmo. Momma Kim a current Palace Court high limit salon dealer at Caesars Palace. Richard from the Wynn, Aria and now high limit at Cosmo. Lauren from the Cosmo and Rio and the list goes on and on. There is like 200 years of dealing and supervising experience here and at properties EVERYONE wants to work at.
Then you look at the wall of working dealers that are all over town and at great properties. I know first hand that if you start with the wrong school you can often get stuck at low end properties. It also helps a lot to know people in this town who are well respected for promoting quality dealers and who themselves are from properties you want to work at.
If your on the fence at all, visit all the other schools first, then come to CEG. Better school, better skills, better job. Simple.
