I had 2 hair transplant surgeries performed by Dr. Shelly Friedman. I was very foolish both times to sign up for surgeries without even a consultation with the doctor beforehand. I was told by Carly (office assistant) both times that I was an ideal candidate. When none of the hair grew in, I went to see Dr. F to complain. He started thumbing through a little medical book and then said the hair didn't grow in because I had folliculitis and wrote me a prescription. When there was no change a few months later, I went back and asked for a refund. He refused. Then I went to another dermatologist who told me I didn't have folliculitis- I have alopecia, which doesn't respond to transplanted hair. So I was never a good candidate for the surgery and should have been told that up front. My impression is that it is all about the money with Dr. F. The girls who work for him cutting up the scalp hairs are paid very little, which is why there is a big turnover in staff there.
