  • I must have the employees of the year working my street because I am definitely a fan of Republic Services. Or perhaps it is just my perspective. I moved from Atlanta where we paid close to $400/year for the city to collect our trash once a week, and the waste management professionals would regularly argue with my husband about taking things, such as long tree limbs. And after they left, it literally looked like they took the trashcans and threw them over their heads, usually with a piece or two or fifty of trash inside. Now, I feel like my trash service spoils me. I never thought I would brag about waste management, but when people visit from out of town, I am compelled to tell them that our trash service comes TWICE a week. 9 out of 10 people are blown away, and it is cheaper than our crappy once a week service in Atlanta. Plus, they take anything, anytime. In Atlanta, the organic waste removal that handled yard trimmings and the like came approximately once a month, so we would have piles of limbs or bags of leaves sitting at the end of our driveway for weeks! Here, whatever you leave, whenever you leave it, they take it (except for recycling). We left a big pile of rocks as a test... well, not really, we needed to get rid of them, and I was convinced they wouldn't take them. My husband decided it was worth a shot, and they took them! When we peaked out the window that morning and saw the rocks were gone, we were giddy. (It kind of makes us want to see what else they would take!) When is the last time your waste management company made you giddy?
