| - At the beginning, I really enjoyed the WAS. They have a huge selection of bridesmaid dresses and seemed to be a one-stop-shop for everything besides bridal gowns. I had a blast shopping for dresses with my bridesmaids. We also ended up getting my mother in law's dress there. Then, tuxedos. And, I initially planned on my veil and favors as well.
We chose the dresses and they measured everyone and gave us instructions on how to order online. I asked multiple times when the dresses needed to be ordered so they could be here on time. They gave me the same answer every time, so I made sure the dresses were ordered prior to that day.
Time went by and we reached the promise date. Actually, I was never really given a date. The dresses were all ordered on October 9 and I was just told they would be in at the end of February. My wedding was March 21. When the end of February came and went, I got to a point that I was calling the store nearly daily to check on the status of the dresses. Two of my bridesmaids were out of town and they had paid to have their dresses shipped to them when they arrived at the store, so there wasn't really any extra time.
Every time I called, there were excuses. No one ever apologized or gave me an answer as to why the delay occurred. All they kept saying was, "Well, we have never missed a wedding." That provides absolutely no comfort to a bride whose wedding is less than 3 weeks away. They didn't offer to help me out in any way, but instead just passed the phone around and pushed me off on someone else every time I talked to them.
One of the last times I called, I actually talked to one of "the girls" as they called her, that actually contacts the manufacturers about orders. She was completely rude and has no business talking to anyone, EVER. She flat out yelled at me. From then on, I talked with Shelly only, one of the managers.
The dresses finally came in, a week before the wedding. Alterations were still needed. So, I had to leave early from work to go pick them up and had to spend money out of my own pocket to overnight them to the girls.
Then - the debacle with the tuxedos. I'll keep it short and say that only 2 out of the 7 fit correctly. They also had the audacity to say they were going to charge my father $50 for an overnight fee to get a new coat when they were the ones that measured him completely wrong. When the tuxedos that I purchased for the children came in, I received a call saying they were in. When we went to pick them up, no one could find them and they said they weren't there. A couple of guys had no shoes, jackets didn't fit, the list is endless. Needless to say, they couldn't get anything right, which caused me multiple trips to the store and countless phone calls.
I had headaches with this store up until the day before my wedding. When it was all said and done, everything was beautiful, but I would gladly have paid more to avoid the stress. I am so thankful that I didn't end up buying my veil or favors there, because I can't condone giving this store any more of my money. The only thing that keeps me from giving them no stars is that they did get my friend in for last minute alterations and have them done on time. But that is the least they could do because she wouldn't have been in that situation if it weren't for them.
Wedding planning is supposed to be fun and for me, it wasn't. Thanks Wedding Accessory Superstore!
