rev:text	It's hard to miss this spot when in Montreal. My husband and I kicked off our mini moon at Au Pied with a 9pm ressie. You should make a res, they seat as right away. Service was very polite and helpful - we ordered the house beer (good) and a Pinot noir like French wines. Everything is french, including the wines so I had to get used to some unfamiliar names. But we had great service and recommendations all the way. We ordered the ham plate (plain) to start which has a yummy maple glaze atop, came with yummy french bread. Definitely order this. We moved onto the pig foot for a main - this was really good. It was fatty, and fried but meaty at the same time. The base sauce for so much of French Canadian food is like a beefy, brown French onion soup - and that was kind of what this was like. Came with hearty vegetables, and mashed potato. We also had the famous duck in a can. I'm sorry to say but I didn't love this, I guess we also don't love foie gras and everything about the foie here is one big slab. It's Better I feel when simmered into a sauce. Anyway, while the cooking technique of sous vide duck breast with hearty vegetables and potato in a can is fun to watch and interested, can't say I loved the taste. The duck was rare though and done on point. We had a side of duck fat fries which were just ok. Didn't taste much of the duck fat but hey fries were always good. We were too full for dessert but looks like they do some good milkshake and ice cream. Definitely can't miss it when dining in Montreal, it's a staple. It wasn't our favorite as I overall felt the food was a bit one note but it's definitely a fun experience - they know what they're doing.
