When will you ever be in a helicopter-- in Vegas Baby!
I booked the flight onhttp://www.grandcanyontourcompany.com/helo.htm. Be weary of the times because different times during the year it is not accurate times of flights posted on the web site. We wanted to have a 2pm flight I later had a email and was told that we had to be ready by 10:30 am for our flight. We had the Grand Canyon Helicopter package with the Eco Star up Grade...I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE UPGRADE! If your afraid of heights or a little nervous the upgrade helps with the noise level and a smoother flight.
You should call the day before the day of your flight or call like when we did when we arrived in las Vegas- Don't wait to get to Vegas to plan for the flight-- there are so many company's and can get frustrating. The day of the flight a shuttle bus picked us up and a few other hotels-- included in the price. The bus driver was knowledgeable about the strip and stayed on time!
We were dropped off at the office and checked it. You are weighed with shoes, purse, jacket and if you are over 300lbs then you have to pay for a second ticket. NO PICTURES are allowed when going to the helicopter but as usual there is a guy that will take your picture with the pilot- and you can pay for it at the end of the trip. If you can sit in the front next to the pilot, DO NOT sit behind someone wearing red or bright colors because it will reflect on the windows and in your pictures. Half way you will stop for fuel and change seats. Sit behind the pilot when going back to the stip. The windows will not have a bar down the middle-AWSOME PICTURES!
Be aware that you will wear head sets and be able to talk to one another-- but if you have little kids or annoying people you get to hear them the entire flight. The pilot told us that the flights do not normally have U.S. english speaking guests on the flights. As we went the pilot was personable and did answer questions/ point out any areas of importance.
We saw Hoover Dam but we still rented a car and explored at our own pace (Its a very short drive). You do not land at the Dam or in the Canyon. Each way from the canyon was 45 mins about. (If you want to drive that is over 4hours one way). The total cost for two people was over $600.00 but the best Christmas Gift I could have given- A CHANCE OF A LIFE TIME :)
