| - The Spot
As the character of Montréal's Old Port changes and becomes more residential, new necessities become apparent. With the influx of young creative professionals choosing not only to work but to live, play, and love down in the Old Port, there was a need for a neighbourhood bar. Philemon is just that; a 'bar de quarter' for the Vieux Port. Not just a place to unwind after the work day, but a place to be comfortable, a place to grab a snack and a nice glass of wine, a place to chat with friends and have a good time.
What's Really Good?
The clientele aren't the only beautiful aspects of this neighbourhood destination. Zebulon Perron, the designer responsible for other Montréal trademarks such as Lustucru, Continental, and Buvette chez Simone, has done a marvellous job with the interior space. The decor is a playful composition of industrial and rustic influences with lots of wood, leather, and brushed metal with exposed piping giving the place a decidedly urban yet refined aesthetic. What truly sets it apart from your typical after work joint is the quality of service and the product delivered. The cellars are well stocked with a selection of privately imported bubbles, reds, and whites, but the staff are the true distinguishing feature.
You'll Want to Know
The fun and charismatic crew come together to provide a memorable visit any day of the week. Philemon is the kind of place you will come to for the 5-7 but stay at till the wee hours... dancing on the bar is far from unheard of.
