| - This is the perfect neighborhood market with gifts, food, wine, beer and a great place to hang out. In the bottom of the Lance Factory building where the pancake house was long ago, Lincoln's gets everything just right from sense of space, sense of place and great food!
I had the bread soup, which was a brothy soup with bread and cheese and veggies. Reminiscent of a Tuscan Ribolita I enjoyed the bold flavors of fresh fennel and other seasonal vegetables.
The star of our group's selections were the Avocado Toast and the Grilled Cheese. The avocado toast broke my rule of alway slices and never mashing the avocado. However it was chunky and flavorful, it has house pickled onions, coarse sea salt and other seasons perfectly sprinkled about and a hearty rustic whole grain bread. I am critical of the flavorless avocado toasts that have become the fad but this....It was as good as avocado toast gets!
They told us "this'll be the best grilled cheese you've ever had." I chuckled and thought their confidence could indicate nothing more than misguided excitement. But after sampling my son's grilled cheese I was hooked. Besides the great bread, liberal use of butter on the griddle and the fantastic combo of cheeses the real game changer is the al dente onions in the cheese. It was a great adult grilled cheese and I would recommend trying it.
