Husband and I have been a fan of the dine in theater concept, but hadn't yet been to Alamo Drafthouse so we wanted to give it a try. We're in Ahwatukee so this was a bit of a drive for us. The vibe is combination nightclub/bar and movie theater. The lobby area could be bigger with more seating, thankfully we were able to find a place to sit without too much issue while waiting for our theater to open. There was a special event/showing going on and they had people in costumes and party favors; so that was fun people watching and adds a unique movie going experience for those attending as well as those just people watching (like me)! Husband and I wished the bar would have offered a flight/beer sampling option, but they did not. Slight bummer, but not a huge disappointment. In the theater itself we liked the table set up compared to other dine in theaters we have been too. The chairs however are far less comfortable and reclining when compared to other theaters. The customer service was excellent, fast and highly attentive. I would say customer service exceeds experience at other dine in theaters. Food-we didn't try any main courses, but did order the Peanut Butter Banana Cookies and they were honestly sub par. Dry peanut butter cooke with 2 slices of banana on top. Very disappointing (3 cookies for $6.50). Back to the vibe of the place; as others have mentioned they have a strict no phone, texting, talking policy and this is great. I feel a bit like the vibe has a bit of an identify crisis like they are trying to be everything to everyone.... adult bar/nightclub/trendy and family friendly. Maybe they can accomplish both, but It kind of feels like they should pick one and own it. Overall in choice of dine in theaters i'd pick going to AMC Esplanade over this place in the future. I'd probably even pick our local AMC which has remodeled (cushy chairs, bar) over this place for convenience reasons.
