  • Szechwan Palace was the place picked for February's International Supper Club UYE, and thanks to an reservation we did not have to wait to be seated, they had a table set up for us. We asked if they did separate checks, we were told no problem so I thought we were at a great start. How quickly that changed. Here is what I noticed, if you are a regular, you seem to get great service, even a smile or laugh out of the staff, but if you are just some random diner picking this place to eat, then expect minimal to no service. The staff (I say staff because we had more than one person working for our table) was aloof and non-caring, sure they took our orders and brought us the food, but to ask for water, drinks, silver wear or even a clean spoon because the one brought with the soup was dirty, was a task, they seem happy to just take the order and slam the food down on the table when it's cooked. Just really bad service. The food on the other hand, I had ordered the Szechwan beef, it was sliced beef sautéed with veggies in a spicy Szechwan sauce. This was a great dish! All though it states on the menu this dish is spicy, I found that it was just flavorful, so for me it could have been a tab bit spicier. I really enjoyed my dish, before I knew it, it was gone! Great food, bad service, so sad, because I'm sure I would have enjoyed coming back, but I don't really enjoy paying & tipping for bad service (just because the server is bad doesn't mean you cheap out on the tip, others rely on that too) Hats off to the kitchen for some great tasting food!
