Before I get started let me give you a little about my background. I worked as a car salesperson years ago and I not have a Masters in Accounting. I've purchased for myself and my family over a dozen vehicles in the past 5 years. I visited Modern Hyundai of Concord today (Black Friday) since there were additional incentives. I went to look at a new Santa Fe Sport. The sales person was professional and knowledgeable but when it came time to run the numbers and the sales manager got involved it all went downhill quick. You see, this sales manager thought he was going to pull a fast one on me because I was going to lease. He came out with a monthly payment amount and refused to break it down for me so I could run my own numbers on the calculator on my phone to make sure everything added up. I kept questioning him to simply show me how he got to that monthly payment and he kept getting more and more defensive. You know what they say when someone gets defensive don't you? It means they're hiding something and don't want to get caught. After arguing with him for about 90 seconds and him having a very short temper he said "Are you gonna pay this or not?" which of course I wasn't going to. Who in their right mind buys at the price they first bring you and who in their right mind would buy from someone who is being dishonest and passive aggressive with you? I left the dealership with a very sour taste in my mouth and drove 20 minutes to Keffer Hyundai in Matthews where after explaining what I just went thru at Modern Hyundai apologized for their behavior (even though it wasn't them or their dealership) and guaranteed me they would be up front with everything they did. Did the new dealership did that? Absolutely! And they earned my business. In a little over an hour I bought a $30,000 vehicle and off I went. If there's one thing I can suggest to anyone reading this it's: STEAR CLEAR of Modern Hyundai of Concord. Unless of course you enjoy being lied to and taken advantage of...then this is your dealership!
