| - "Explosion of flavors in your mouth" or "electrified taste buds" or whatever the current catch phrase is on Food TV shows, that's exactly what happens at Mesa Grill. One bite after another, you discover a new layer of taste in your food, now it's spicy, now it's tangy, now it's sweet, now it's salty! The colors are bright, the flavors are rich and bold, but you can still taste the ingredient. You still get to enjoy the buttery lobster tail. You still get that crunch in the corn.
I can't voucher for the dishes my dining companions got, although it must say something if my husband decided to take his leftover pork tenderloin with us all the way back to SF.
From the very start, the corn muffin was delicious with a bit of chili to give it a little kick. Duck with pancake was special and different from most duck I have tasted. Very saucy and flavorful. Side of corn reminded us of the Mexican corn from NY's Habana Cafe, but shaved and served in a small skillet so it was easy to share (and worth fighting for). My entree, the cioppino, had generous amount of mussels, fish, scallop and lobster tail. All delicious in a light green chile stew.
Very memorable meal, very worth the very high price. Service was friendly and timely. It was a good idea to make a reservation even though it was a Sunday night. After arrived on time, we waited for a bit at the bar and enjoyed some delicious and pricey margaritas.
Yay for Bobby Flay!
