A friend and I went here for the first time. We had something very simple: filter coffee. We both decided it had a weird aftertaste, sort of like a chemical taste, or soap. Seriously, how do you screw up filter coffee? They did give me an allongé to replace the filter coffee, but they make their allongés like americanos: they make a regular espresso and add water. The allongé was decent. the weird aftertaste from the filter coffee lasted a half an hour. Not going back.
(Rant) This is another one of those hipster cafes that look terrific but have a lot of trouble making a basic good cup of coffee. Their coffee comes from Portland Maine. Some suggestions:
a) learn how to make a good cup of filter coffee
b) make an allongé coffee the way the rest of the province makes it
c) buy your beans from a Canadian roaster. This would save on shipping and support Canadian businesses.
