I have been a member of 24 Hour Fitness since 2004. I will be cancelling my membership today. I'm fed up with the poor customer service at this location. Today is the second time that I have invited someone to check out the gym with me and been turned away. I showed up with a friend and a printed out three day pass we completed online.
She is a coworker and a friend. We travel for work about 75% of the time, so she is an out of state resident from Utah and 24HR is convenient because of the number of locations. Evidentially, in the fine print of the 3 day pass it states "Local Residents Only" despite it stating that the pass was good at all locations in the preceding sentence. A bit of a contradiction that we didn't even notice.
When she handed over her ID, the "customer service" representative told us that she could not use the gym. He just stared at us. After a few minutes I asked what we could do as we were there and dressed to work out and I had told my friend she would enjoy the Body Pump class, so we were excited to attend. He then said I could add her to my account for an increased monthly fee. No. Then he told her she could pay a fee of $25 for the day. That is more than I pay for my monthly membership.
These were not practical solutions and they were not even offered without me probing for a solution more than once. This is terrible customer service. When I was training with a trainer he told me that membership rates and attendance were down. This is why. Treat your customers better. I'm done, being embarrassed this way TWICE is enough for me, good luck.
