  • For preface, I'm an IRONMAN finisher, multi-marathon finisher, and GC r2r2r finisher. I've been coming to this location for a year and a half, because like a fool I pre-purchased 3 years in advance for a discount. I tend to be a pretty low-key person, just head in 5 days a week to lift weights, mind my own business, then leave. The management recently posted a big sign in the lobby asking guests to leave a 5-star Yelp review in exchange for a gift card or something. So I thought okay, if you really want some Yelp reviews, I'll be happy to write one. Unfortunately, this LA Fitness location has been a terrible experience. Loud, rude members, frequently slamming weights and grunting/yelling/etc while the staff do absolutely nothing about it. Old and frequently broken equipment. A musty smell that permeates the facility from the old carpet and inadequate ventilation. During triathlon training I asked the staff if someone could give me a quick form check on squats, to ensure I was lifting properly and wouldn't injure myself. What was their response? To try to sell me a personal training package, and tell me "try coming back tomorrow, maybe one of our trainers can do a one-time session with you for $20." Really? After 1.5 years at the gym, they can't spare a single person for 5 minutes? I genuinely wish I had more positive things to say about this location. As a generally optimistic person, willing to overlook faults (being in no short supply of them myself..), I don't like writing negative reviews. But in the ~1.5 years using this facility, service has gotten steadily worse, staff are COMPLETELY unengaged, patrons are the worst...(with zero enforcement from staff of weight slamming, yelling/loudly talking, etc). The final salt in the wound is the constant presence of third-party vendors attempting to sell you products as you leave the gym. As if they aren't raking money in hand-over-fist, now there are ads and vendors. Really? I recommend EOS hands down. Superior facility, superior friendly staff, and best of all, $9.99 per month NO CONTRACT. Skip this cesspool at all costs. PROs? Android/iPhone app check-in is super convenient. FRONT DESK staff are friendly (in complete contrast to the rest of the staff) CONs? see review above
