  • I gave Los Olivos two stars only because it is not the best Mexican food I've had in Phoenix...not even close. We went there with friends for Cinco de Mayo this year. That was the first mistake as we had to wait forever for a table. We were seated in the room with the roll back roof where they had set up a stage. Some really cute kids dressed in costumes came up to do some traditional (they seemed that way to this gringa anyway) Mexican dances. That was probably the best part. I judge a Mexican restaurant by its salsa...first disappointment. It tasted like they had dumped Pace into a bowl. I could have stayed home for that. I had the fish tacos for dinner. Sadly these were also crummy...perhaps I was spoiled after living in Los Angeles for six years...home to some GREAT fish tacos. I think Los Olivos gets by on their location and tourists who don't know the difference.
