  • Sooooo...it's OK if i review places despite never having bought anything, right? I've browsed Page and Panel a hundred times on my way up Yonge Street. Next to Balzacs and, y'know, books, it's one of the best reasons to hit the Toronto Reference Library. Each time I find myself at war with my inner child, who would gleefully spend a mortgage payment or two at a pop on comics and related merch. Everything from conventional superhero books to grown up titles like the Walking Dead (which is somehow much scarier in comic form), to international titles and decidedly adult-themed Manga jostle for position on crowded shelves. Proud book nerds can let their neatly lettered freak flags fly with an assortment of t-shirts and mugs bearing the likenesses of their favourite authors. Pins, book bags, the odd toy and a charming children's lit section complete the store. Service is knowledgeable if slow to leave the stool by the cash register, which is unfortunate. A store like this begs for a bit of energy and knowledge. You're already here, a supportive word or two would trigger a buying frenzy.
