| - I regularly visit spas. I have been to Spa Mandalay a couple of different times, on different trips.
This spa feels slightly less upscale than THEbathhouse, but is pretty close in amenities. I prefer how things are set up in THEbathhouse, in a quiet, dark relaxing area, while things are set up right at the inner check-in desk at Spa Mandalay. The lighting level is much brighter and the layout is a little less ideal, to me. If you're modest, you might not like the distances between the hooks and the pools in some areas.
Speaking of modesty - Lately it seems like there are more other people who have clearly never been to a spa before. At the Bathhouse there were two young women who were literally clutching their robes closed at the neck and stayed too shy to actually use anything, at least while I was there. At Spa Mandalay, some were talking loudly and just sitting around in their bathing suits like they were at the beach, and many who seemed shocked that some women were not wearing bathing suits.
This spa tends to be moderately busy, but not uncomfortably so. There are more pools, and bigger steam room and sauna compared to THEbathhouse.
Issues - the steam room timing is off, the steam should be coming on more often and staying on longer. Like THEbathhouse, the room is empty of steam for several long minutes before it comes on again. The wood sauna is dangerously splintery in some areas. The waterfalls are just a little overpowered and will splash you in the face towards the center of the two long jetted pools.
On price for value, you can do worse, but I know this place could be a little better, too.
