Spent the last few days yelping sushi spots in the valley because I wanted my diet break meal to be epic!
Goyeman was very good. The taste, quality and wide selection of sushi met my expectations as you fellow Yelpers have reviewed. My wife and I both got the AYCE. I got 3 specialty rolls, 2 nigiri, and 3 side dishes including ice cream tempura. The wife got 3 specialty rolls as well.
I have eaten at a couple AYCE sushi spots in the valley but my wife had never been with me. When we go to buffets she tends to like to sample a bunch of different things and often leaves some on the plate if she didn't like it (and YES I get on her about wasting food). Anyways, Goyeman BLEW MY MIND when they charged her extra for NOT finishing her rolls. So 2 of the 8 piece rolls she ate 4 pieces of each. So in addition to the AYCE price, they charged us the 1/2 the price of each roll. I've never seen anything like it in my life! I thought the waitress was messing with us until she pulled out a little plastic card by the menus and it outlined the same.
I don't eat anything with cheese or mayo so I couldn't touch them. I would have eaten them and saved us the additional $10 if I could.
When that happens they let you take the additional pieces home. We were going to run some errands when we left and it was 98° today so taking the sushi with us did us no good and it was thrown away 2 hours later.
If I find out other AYCE sushi spots in the valley do this strange charge thing, I'll come back and change my review to a 5. But I did not appreciate paying more for rolls we didn't eat. One of them, she legitimately didn't even like. So because you order it you gotta pay? I just can't wrap my head around it...
So good sushi for sure but as of now, definitely will NOT be going back.
