| - Real quick to get this out of the way: Cash only.
Had been meaning to check out this place for a while now and finally found myself in the neighborhood during (ahem) business hours. And about a block after exiting the Mont-Royal Metro Station, I could already smell the buttery, pastry goodness in the air.
If one is lucky, they might be able to secure one of the two tables in the place (both with a lovely window view). Otherwise, you might want to think ahead about an adequate location to enjoy those pastries. And enjoy you will.
I picked the classics:
Almond Croissant - soft, flaky, sweet but not too sweet, delicious.
Kouign-Amann - Amazing. Buttery, sugary, crispy/flaky. Sold per slice or a whole cake. The cake is round and crusty, made with viennoiserie dough containing layers of butter and sugar folded in, slowly baked until the butter puffs up the dough and the sugar caramelizes. Kind of like a big round caramelized croissant.
They also had a few other croissants and tarts from what I saw. Can't wait to come back and try the rest!
