| - I've been coming here for 2 years. The first time I came was to get my ACLS for the first time.
My company offers the ACLS class on site, free of charge. My first experience with the ACLS at my work was horrible. I lost so much confidence, I was never given the book, never told how to prepare for it. I was set up to fail and even told to just get through it and you can figure it out later. That doesn't work well with me, but they're able to get 8-10 people through BLS and ACLS in 4 hrs. So what does that tell you?
So, I knew this wasn't going to work for me and I really wanted to know the stuff and it's not always good to take this class when it's your peers who (people you directly work with) teach the class. People judge you.
So, that's when I came across LBW training center. After taking the 2 day ACLS class with Dr. Messer, I felt like I could teach the class and he takes it very seriously and expects you to take it seriously as well. He's fun, but serious about knowledge and being prepared to lead a megacode. I started to get some confidence.
2 years later, my ACLS was due again and I just finished the 2 day ACLS this past weekend with Dr. Messer and Jeremy (Jeremy finished up the second half of the class on Sunday). I prefer to take the 2 day class rather than just the renewal because it's just more enforcement and repetition that is beneficial to truly learning. I also took my BLS in June with Dr. Messer and an EKG class with Jeremy. Both are exceptional and very intelligent, yet, can come down to your level. Again, I walked away this weekend feeling very comfortable and knowledgeable. Again, it's something I choose to do and pay for myself rather than just get it done for free at work and then not feel I've learned anything. It's worth it for me to pay for it myself and take it at LBW. I urge anybody that has to get ACLS to do it here!!!! At least the first time so you can gain confidence and when you leave you know you've been well trained and equipped.
I'm actually considering going back every year to keep things really fresh in my mind. I think 2 years is just too long to go without any training. You forget too much.
Ian at the front desk is always so friendly and helpful with whatever you need. Promptly responds to emails. They have so many wonderful people there. They'll be seeing me for many more years.
I want to say everything is perfect, but nothing is perfect all the time. I wish they had critical care classes that I could take annually just to keep those skills up as well. The one thing that I dusky particularly care for this past weekend is that I had a different instructor for the practice megacode on Saturday and then a completely different instructor for the testing of the megacode on Sunday. I didn't have Dr. Messer or Jeremy for either of those. I was really disappointed with that. The other instructors (I'm guessing were trying to obtain their ACLS instructor certification) were very scattered and started to confuse the group with conflicting information. It really ruined my perfect experiences with Dr. Messer and Jeremy. I will return to LBW, but I will insist that I keep Dr. Messer through my whole class, practice and test.
