| - Two of us went for the friday night "Roasts of Alberta" buffet. They had hot items, a salad bar, three feature roasts (pork, beef, and lamb), and a dessert bar. Coffee and tea were included in the price of the buffet; other drinks were extra.
The food was good. The meats and a few hot items were quite tasty. The salad bar, while a bit generic, had some good choices as well. The dessert bar is comprised of house-made pies; we tried two of them with mixed reviews.
In general, the buffet was reasonable and we likely would have returned another night. However...
The 10% tip is already included on the bill. Even for two people.
Except they don't tell you this (unless you ask, we found out later). Their rationale was that "it's posted on the signs". It says on the posters hung throughout the casino, "22.95/$19.95 club members, subject to GST and gratuity". Sure, it's normal to charge tax and tip on top of the meal. But it's not normal to sneak it in and then ask for it again with the credit machine a minute later. We ended up paying a 25ish% tip on a buffet. We won't be back.
And also, they're charging GST on top of the tip. Not cool.
