| - I've lived in various places around the country and all of the utility companies in vegas are a pain to deal with but republic services is in their own classification of incompetency and arrogance. I don't know about the county but at least in the city, you have no choice but to pay for their services. I have to pay the same amount as everyhone else, including my landscaping neighbor who dumps tons of garbage on the curb every week. Anyway, 2 years ago they screwed up my billing and threatened me with a lien. Even though I went twice in person to their office and gave them copies of the canceled checks, they still wouldn't fix it. Finally, I got fed up and went to the county commisioner to complain. They eventually helped me get the attention of republic services but only because I didn't tell them I lived in the city limits. Then last month, republic services threw out my garbage can with the trash; second time in a year that the've done this but this time I caught them. I noticed it gone right after they left and then chased the truck down the street. At first they lied about it but when they opened up the back, there's my can smashed to pieces. So I call right away and report it and the rep I spoke to was very nice. She said I shouldn't buy another can and a supervisor will contact me. Well, no call so I call again. This time, this nit on the phone tells me that they came by my house but I wasn't home. I explained that I keep my gate locked so if you're going to leave a can please put it over the fence. "Oh, well that's up to the supervisor" "Um, are you kidding?" So anyway a couple days later they drop off a can but it's about 4 ft tall and weighs about 40lbs empty and it has no wheels. So, I call back and I tell them this completely unacceptable. This time they said, put the can on the curb on your next service day and someone will come by to replace it. "Don't use the can." So over a week goes by and the can is just sitting in front of my house. I'm bagging up my trash and throwing it to the curb but between the scavengers and animals on my street the trash is all over the front of my house. So I complain to my county commissioner again and my city councilman bob coffin. At first the county offers to help but then once they learn I live in the city limits, well forget about it. I complained four times to bob coffin about my missing can and other issues about sanitation in my neighborhood and he and his staff couldn't give a wit. I guess they're too busy with their rezoning and licensing to help anyone who lives in his ward. Anyway, I'm ready to sue republic services in small claims but I give it one more go and call them. 4 phone calls and 3 weeks and finally they replace my garbage can. yelp, yelp
bob coffin is a nit but if enough people complain about their service to the count commissioner and/or city councilman maybe they'll do something. It's like the lottery. If you don't play you can't win.
