| - Yay! I'm a fan.
I think it's some rule that I have to check out the closest gun shop near me. It probably has something to do with growing up in California and its firearm phobia. As a result, for every state that I move to that's not Cali, I purchase a gun. I've even named them after their state of purchase, so now I'm due for a Nevada. Looking at the storefront and floorspace, I definitely did not set my expectations very high. I could have easily mistaken the place for a pawn shop. Yet the place was absolutely packed even as they approached their closing time. Instinct says they must be doing something right, thus give them the benefit of the doubt.
It didn't take long to browse over all their wares, so then I just got to waiting for my turn at the counter to speak with someone. I warned the first one who looked my way that I would have an involved question. I can't claim to know a lot about firearms, but I'm an expert in what I like my firearms to be like. The discussion started out simple enough, probably with him hoping it would end quickly. Well after shooting down (pun intended) more than a few of his ideas with specific criteria of mine, I think he got the point and started treating me with a little more interest. It was definitely a turn for the better as I think we both got engrossed in each other's knowledge.
Unfortunately the conclusion was that what I was searching for wasn't in stock. Yet that doesn't mean I left disappointed. Instead of trying to sell me on what they've got, he tried to sell me what I needed. I ended up walking away with a few options to go find elsewhere even. Yes, they can order for me, but I need hands-on first. In fact, from the looks of things, ordering seems to be their specialty. It took a little while to realize this establishment's worth, and it was worth the wait.
