| - I get what all the hype is about now, at long last. The first two times I came to this place, I let them talk me into getting the pork broth with a bit of spicy kara-miso in it, and each time I was a bit disappointed. The broth was super tasty but I found it odd that it was so lukewarm instead of hot (maybe because of the miso paste), and I found the milky texture a bit off-putting. I could tell it wasn't bad, just not my thing, which bummed me out, because I've wanted a good ramen place for a while now.
So, last time, I got the veggie broth with chicken, no kara-miso paste, and it was FANTASTIC, with just the kind of flavour profile I wanted, and a rich, clear broth served piping hot. Best ramen I've had in ages, maybe ever.
The moral of the story: if this place doesn't grab you the first time, give it another shot and switch up your order. They're obviously very proud of their pork tonkotsu and spicy miso paste, but those aren't going to be to everyone's tastes. Besides, the prices are pretty good and the selection is quite small, so it's easy enough to experiment a little.
