| - As you may know, I just purchased a 13-week-old puppy. So as a new owner I am wanting the best for my little pooch and I want to make the best arrangements to have him taken care of when I cannot.
I called Wags in the City and Beth, the owner, came over to my house to meet me and my dog. I was initially very impressed with her kindness and the variety of services. She and her staff have passion for pets. I hired her immediately to pet sit while I needed to be away for the day.
She and another employee came to my house three times. During each visit they left a note describing what happened on the visit.
When my husband and I got home after a long day, I found my house in disarray. A good portion of my rug was soaked with a dog spray (the one that lifts urine off fabric) because apparently during the second visit, Beth didn't secure the latch on the crate (we are crate training him). He got out of the crate and had the house to himself for a few hours...did I mention he is a puppy?! So he got the cleaner and chewed a hole in the bottom and more than likely ingested it. Needless to say, I felt extremely upset to return to a mess and note that all of this happened and I didn't get a call to prepare me or to consult with me to see what I wanted to have happen with my dog (e.g., vet visit, call the number on the back of the bottle to see if it is poisonous, or to stay with my dog to make sure he doesn't get sick). Granted, it was an accident and I am fully aware that she would not have intentionally put my dog in potentially harmful situations. However, I wanted to pay for a peace of mind and that didn't happen. I will say, she did her best to soak up as much of the solution from my rug and put towels on the floor.
Once I got home I called her immediately. We talked about what happened and she tried to reassure me that this is the first time anything like this has happened. Well, unfortunately for me this did happen and on my very first time leaving him with someone who is paid to take care of him and to put him securely back in the crate when unattended.
It's not a good feeling to come home and worry about your dog...it made for a restless evening. Accidents happen and this has been very unfortunate for all involved. I'm very sad that my experience was not like the other 5-star reviews because I was really hoping that I found my "sitter." Thankfully pup seems fine, my rug is drying out, and she gave me a refund.
