Il Pizzaiolo is my new favorite restaurant in Pittsburgh. We came in without a reservation on a Saturday night and we're still seated immediately. First, they brought out a large jug of water and glasses along with toasted bread and oil. I ordered the caprese salad, and the tomatoes and mozzarella both tasted extraordinarily fresh. The tomatoes truly tasted like they were freshly picked out of a garden. I also had the margharita pizza and the penne rosa pasta. Both were absolutely outstanding - and vegetarian! The portion sizes were perfect, at the end of my three course dinner I was perfectly stuffed. Overall the food was spectacular, the service was fast and polite, and the location is perfect for an evening date. I will absolutely return soon!
