I'm from 'Sconsin so I've had some good ice cream in my day. Mitchell's is a very close comparison in taste and quality to the best local ice cream in Madison, Wisconsin - The Chocolate Shoppe.
The best thing about Mitchell's is that they use the best ingredients - I am really impressed by the fact that all main ingredients come from within 100 miles of Cleveland. Also they use grass-fed dairy exclusively. Wow! It has to be hard just to FIND grass-fed milk in the quantities they must use. Very cool indeed.
Really interesting special flavors to try - recently had Edmund Fitzgerald Porter Chocolate chunk - excellent! The brownie sundae is huge and totally yummy - warm brownie on the bottom, ice cream, fudge, whipped cream and pecans on top. With a real cherry - not the neon red kind. Very good and a huge portion for the price - $4.95. It was big enough to share unless you really want a LOT of ice cream.
This store is really clean and neat, with take home pints and quarts of all the varieties available. Lots of seating inside and some outside as well. Lots of original flavors - big portions. Can't wait for the new flagship spot to open in Ohio City! Love me some Mitchell's!
