| - Not only did I drink a Whiskey Smash last night, but my first visit to Oak and Ivy was a smash as well. I walked in on a Tuesday night solo. I was waiting for a friend who was running way behind so I grabbed a spot at the bar, ordered my drink of choice, and sipped the time away while scrolling through Instagram and people watching.
The menu is pretty extensive. Loads of whiskeys and bourbons and all the things. I was under the impression that they were a craft cocktail bar in the strictest sense, but when a gentleman came in and ordered a rum and coke and mimosa at 9pm, the bartender politely obliged. That was refreshing to see.
The Whiskey Smash wasn't a refreshing drink per se, but the muddled berries gave it a tart flavor that left my mouth watering. The bartender totally called me out for nursing it though, and from there a friendship was born. Both Eric and Todd (I hope I got those right) were behind the bar. They are hilarious, kind, and ridiculously talented with their cocktail skills. Todd makes a drink he calls "Life Story". I'm not going to spoil it for you, and honestly I couldn't repeat all the things he mixes up, so you'll just have to trust me. Ask for Todd, order his "Life Story" and then ask him to tell you about it. It's fascinating.
See you at the bar folks!
