| - My story follows along similar lines to the other horror stories. Our gas stove burners would not start through the igniter; therefore, they had to be lit manually. We inherited AVA through First American Home Warranty. The technician arrived on the initial visit and wasn't very professional. He was at our house and on his cell phone numerous times with his office, taking pictures of the stove and relaying them to a person he was talking to. Don't know what the technician was saying as he was speaking in Russian and spoke very little English. After 2 hrs., he diagnosed the problem and ordered burners and a switch (assuming an ignition switch) and said they'd return in 3-5 business days.
Fast forward to 4/25/17 for the same technician's return. Arriving at 8:30, Alex the tech proceeded to commence work. At one point, he had to leave to go to Home Depot to get a saw blade and drill bits! After a little better than 3-1/2 hr of the same nonsense of many phone calls and cell phone pictures, Alex the Tech informed my wife that he had to order additional parts and we couldn't use the stove top. I assume he damaged a gas line internally in the stove. The ignition problem seems to be corrected; however, we have to await 4-5 days for parts. Meanwhile, we started our day with an operating stove and now have no stove!!
After the tech left, I called AVA and spoke with a rather rude receptionist. I called the tech inept and she took offense. Oh well, this dude has spent almost 6 hrs. total in my house to correct a problem and he's not finished! I asked to speak with a service supervisor to address the situation, specifically to find out what additional parts were being ordered and to ask why these parts weren't discovered in the initial service call? The response was the service supervisor doesn't speak with customers, that I should address this with First American!! I also demanded that this tech not return to my house, if and when AVA would
return to fix their mess! She said Alex would be responding!
Incredulous, I spoke with First American and they will intervene. They will support my demand or reassign another contractor. First American has a stable full of bad contractors. I've experienced through 9 yrs, bad A/C contractors and appliance repair. I think it's time to seek a different home warranty company!
In closing, I spent 34 yrs. in both residential and commercial HVAC installation and service work. I know a professional when I see one and when I observe a tech making repeated phone calls, that doesn't exude confidence to the customer! Stay away at all costs from AVA Appliance as they're inept, unprofessional, and quite frankly may be unlicensed!
