  • Ok so I normally get my meats at another warehouse store. I have drove by this place off of Horizon Ridge several times. Today I decided to go it. I called to see if they had a special cut of meat I was looking for. SURPRISED they Did. Fantastic....! SO I figured I'd ask if they have a Point for sale (Brisket). The guy said no but he wold separate the flat from the point for me and charge me X dollars per pound. Again Fantastic!!!! SO I show up and get the special cut of meat and I ask about the Point. This is where the guy lost me, so I'm not a butcher and I've never said I was ever in my life but I have smoked, oh man, 30-50 briskets in my day and I have separated the point on each one of them to make brunt ends. No big deal right? SO the guy from the the store pull out the packer (brisket) and proceeds to cut it in half......WHAT?? I ask him, "had bud are you sure that's the point" His reply is, DO you want it or not?!?! To be honest I was surprised and shocked to say the least at his response. I then said, "dude are you sure that's the point?" He again proceeds to show me what he thinks the flat is. I'm not going to argue with this guy in his own store about what the flat is and what the point is on a brisket. So I buy the cut in half brisket at a reduced cost per pound and I'll separate it the best I can or salvage the point the best I can. Do I like this store? Yes I do. I will be back and I'll buy the point from them again Yes. But maybe the guy will let me show him how to separate them apart so he can save some money on the flat instead of giving me 1/3 of the flat and all of the point at a reduced cost. FYI - The Butcher Block has some good meat premade meats ready for the grill or oven. I like it better than the chain store but I'll buy my whole packers from the warehouse stores where they are Prime graded beef for less money. So I tell you all to give them a try. I'm a picky person and you make not care about the minutia... I have photos if you want to see..
