I am making it a goal to visit as many outdoor skating rinks as I can this winter. Today I was in Richmond Hill and decided to check out the skating on Mill Pond. It was disappointing to find the Pond covered in snow except for a couple of small patches that people cleared themselves with a shovel. I suppose the town no longer clears the ice or perhaps they just do it for the winter fair. With the temperature at minus seventeen for the last few days, the ice was solid. It's too bad there was not a bigger area to enjoy the beautiful experience of skating on a frozen pond. I was a little confused with the small change room visitors including myself were using to put on their skates with a sign in the open doorway saying DO NOT ENTER
Very pretty spot but not very skater friendly I'm sorry to say.
