| - After working at this location for near 2 years, I had grown to respect, love, and appreciate the staff. Following my end of employment with this company, I was on good terms with every worker employed as well as upper management. Recently, I adopted a sweet German Shepard into my family and had her legally registered as a service dog, and made certain she had her collar tag stating she was a service animal, in addition to her legal paperwork.
However, during my last two or three visits, I have been harassed by SEVERAL staff AND upper management members.
Numerous statements made(near verbatim):
1. The name of the store isn't "(my name)" get your dog out.
2. I'm going to call patty(who is the store director) on my break and tell her you brought your dog here.
3. Seriously, get your fucking dog out of here.
4. If your dog is really a service animal let me see her paperwork (illegal to ask for documentation)
5. Your dog can't be in this store, my response: "shes a service animal", albertsons employee: uhm no she's not.
The list goes on and on of rude and completely unacceptable comments made by staff throughout the store. The store director, Patty Prince, in particular decided to tell me, a customer at this point, that I am not allowed to bring my dog into 'her' store. Even after I stated I had her legal servicing documentation ready to show, and that I would only be present for a short minute, I was answered with a scoff and a literal cold shoulder. I have never been so furious with management attitude given to customers.
According to the U.S. Department of Justice, you cannot demand to see identification or certification as a condition of giving the person service. Most, but not all, service animals wear some sort of recognizable clothing, such as a cape or special harness, but they are
NOT REQUIRED to wear such markings.
My legal service animal and I will proudly walk every single isle every single day if we wish to, store directors, staff members and even common customers have no basic right to question, as for documentation, or ask you to leave with your service animal.
If you want rude staff members (who obviously learn from the one and only Ms. Prince) please be my guest and shop at 'your friendly Albertsons'!!!
