| - Amazing! This place is a bit pricey but... Worth. Every. Cent.
Today was Pi Day, and after foolishly driving all over creation looking for awesome pie, we found it 2 blocks from home. Sadly, by the time we arrived, the one pie we truly wanted, chocolate cream (a very close cousin to french silk) had just been purchased by the man in front of us in line who had had the good sense to call ahead and reserve it. But let me tell you, anybody who celebrates Pi Day is a good person, because geeks are good people, and let's be honest, only geeks can truly appreciate or care about a mathematical holiday. Here's where the story gets good...
The exceptional man who just purchased this last chocolate cream pie offers to SHARE! Yes, that's right. He says we're doing him a favor and that he & his family wouldn't be able to eat all of that pie anyway, so he sells us 2 slices of his pie! Talk about an awesome geek! And as fellow geeks in search of awesome pie, we jumped at the chance!
So 2 slices of chocolate cream pie, 1 cherry tart, 1 tres leches cake, and 2 cannoli's later, we walked out of the bakery. Let me tell you, best $18 we've ever spent at a bakery.
The chocolate cream pie... There are no words. Delicious is an understatement. Just the perfect amount of sweet. PERFECT. I wish the bakery was open on Sunday because I want to order one ASAP!
The cannoli's were the same perfect amount of sweet. I'm a cannoli snob, having lived in the Chicagoland area most of my life, good authentic Italian cannoli's aren't hard to come by there, so I am THRILLED there is a good cannoli 2 blocks from my home here in Tempe.
The cherry tart was perfect and TART! I hate when a cherry tart is crazy sweet and full of cherry pie filling.
The tres leches cake was my husbands dessert and it was quite good!
Bottom line: DREAMING about this place and definitely going back. Soon!
