  • Wish I could give it 2 1/2 stars . . I'm giving the place 3 stars simply because it is interesting to dine at a cooking school. This was our first visit, and I was encouraged by positive reviews on Open Table and Yelp. We went for the 4-course dinner for $15. One thing to keep in mind is that they only provide 2 of any dish to the same table. Also--you can't request changes to any of the dishes as to ingredients. This wasn't a problem for me, even though I'm someone of a picky eater. We started with cold apps--salads. We did the Caesar salad, the arugula with fruit salad, and the arugula with watermelon and goat cheese salad, all were pretty good. Moving on to our hot apps, we had the pea soup (terrible--looked like peas from a can in broth), the caprese salad (cheese was deep fried and salad was yummy) and pizza of the day (margarita--good). Our hot entrees were the veal shank (good veal shank but tasteless risotto), chicken with mashed potatoes (chicken was a bit bland but potatoes were wonderful) and the pork schnitzle (kind of dry). Unfortunately, for desert they ran out of the fruit crumble that I wanted, so I ended up with the chocolate mousse with raspberries (excellent). Others at our table had the pot du creme (passable but not worth ordering) and cheesecake (very good). As with other reviews, service was slow, especially right after we had been seated. We waited quite a bit of time before seeing a menu or ordering drinks. The courses came out fairly quickly afterward. When the meal ended, they asked us to fill out a comment card but didn't provide us with a pen. Again, when we went to pay with a credit card, they provided us with a receipt but no pen. Overall, an interesting experience but probably not worth a second try.
