  • I want to admit upfront the monthly BBQ cravings I used to have are a lot less frequent nowadays. Don't know why. But I've passed both Rudy's locations a couple of times in the last six months and I really thought I should give it a shot. Well-run operation, efficient. Reasonable prices, I guess. Great turkey, really great! Great brisket, mediocre slaw-not enough- flavor. Corn on the cob? Yeah, I like butter, too! Extra credit for the to-go zip locks, available to everyone. BBQ sauce is terrific. Got a zing! I'd go back- truth is I have been back: turkey, pulled pork. Just no slaw. * Here's my one, NOT so minor complaint: I never once saw an employee smile. Not one time. 15-20 people, all-told, not once. * Never heard a single "thank you". Hell, I've been to Texas and part of what I recall IS THE HOSPITALITY! Not here. Not at all. Which is kind of a bad thing if you're in the HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY!!! I waited in line for probably 20 minutes. At Rudy's, you get your beverage first, before ordering. So after receiving my order, I wanted a cold(er) beer to replace the one I'd been hanging into for the 20 minutes in line. A Rudy's employee was standing by the beverages and he scowled at me! This guy was downright unfriendly - not ideally suited for THE HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY!!!! (Where in the Rudy's training manual does it tell this guy it's ok to growl at customers?) Hey Rudy! Get your folks to smile, say thank you. Turkey ain't that good you can't smile and say "thanks for coming"!
