  • My 1 star is strictly because of how sick I was for two days after eating here... I will reflect on all of the food that I tried and then also note what I ate that I know got me sick. First of all.. there are a lot of high quality dishes that Bacchanal offers. I do not think that they have anywhere near 500 items... Not sure how they got that number, maybe they counted every single section of sauce and the hot sauce bottles and each spoon for each individual sauce... however what they don't have which was advertised when they first open was Snow Crab or Stone Crab Claws. Friday they only had KING CRAB and KING CRAB only... I am not sure if this is a 'Friday Saturday" only thing or if they have snow crab on other days but one thing that is readily apparent is that they do NOT have STONE CRAB anymore. (with Joe's Stone Crab in the Forum shops selling those things by the half dozen for as much as this buffets price I would have liked to see that they were included completely in this buffet as I think Stone Crab claws are extremely sweet and flavorful.) Also they raised their prices for Friday/Saturday dinner buffet to 39.95. the hour and a half long wait in line stunk too... I started with the Asian section.... the big surprise there was the soup dumpling. this little thing exploded in your mouth and was fantastic.. on from there the crispy beef was pretty good and so were the egg rolls surprisingly. When I got to the sushi, everything looked pretty fresh so I took 1 piece per roll and a few lone pieces of salmon and tuna on rice.. when I began to eat these however, the tuna tasted way too fishy and the salmon didn't smell right so I did not consume the pieces of fish. I moved on and unfortunately I skipped the ramen noodle section so I can't report how good that was. I took some of the sliced deli meats and drizzled some of the infused honey on top of them, this was great! The Italian meatball was good and so was the lasagna. I liked the taco section, the meats they use were really good and it's nice to have the taco warmed up right in front of you. The slider burger was fantastic, I could have eaten 5 of them for a regular meal and would have been very happy with them. The best part of the buffet I think was that nice slice of tomahawk rib eye that the very entertaining meat cutter guy threw me.. so flavorful and tasty. On to the seafood section... the shrimp were very good huge large shrimp that had great flavor and were just great... the lobster corn chowder was very good. the shucked oysters and mussels were very fresh and sweet and had no bad smell to them whatsoever... The king crab legs that I got were very large however they were also very frozen, I literally bit into an ice cube of crab meat and that wasn't very pleasant.. I should have had them heat the crab legs up... so unless you like a crabcicle then please have them do that. The desserts were awesome... no big surprise there.. Now here's where things went wrong...... I grabbed an oyster shooter... it was a small cup filled with an oyster on the bottom, some hot sauce and tomato juice.. after I shot it a few minutes later I immediately had a terrible sensation in my stomach that stayed there for 6 hours... at that point I was in so much pain I figured that I had to do the old apple cider vinegar trick to take care of food poisoning and 12 hours later I started to feel much better... so please be careful of those things... not sure if it was one of those off chance things and I got lucky but it had something to do with the sauce they used or the oyster or something however it was extremely painful and I'm glad it's over with.
