Weekend Breakfast Buffet....the Montelucia is an absolutely beautiful resort that is always a pleasure be it dining, spa, gym or staycation. On the weekends you can certainly order off a fairly standard breakfast menu or choose the breakfast buffet. I've had the buffet on several occasions and my review is pretty consistent in each visit. Service is assertive if not overly attentive (they don't stalk you but your coffee/water is usually filled promptly) the build your own omelette station is very good with an attentive chef my only complaint with the omelettes is if you order mushrooms in your omelette you will get entire small mushrooms nicely sautéed. I appreciate the freshness and presentation but I liked my mushrooms chopped in my eggs instead of eating stem and cap over and over. I am sure they would chop it for you but I don't want to be a pain. They always have beautiful fresh fruit, salmon, cool meats, oatmeal/granola exc....the hot items are standard bacon (thick cut but not crispy by any stretch of the imagination ) sausage, sometimes it is turkey sausage which I prefer, hash browns (if you like them crisp and well cooked you will be disappointed) then usually a starch mini pancakes or French toast depending on the day. The last rounded silver serving tray has what my friends and I call "the mystery box" I suppose it is whatever the chef felt like creating that day it could be breakfast quesadillas, breakfast tacos (terrible) or mini breakfast sandwiches. It's an ongoing joke with my dining companions to avoid the mystery box everything else is fair game ! (Just never had anything good out of it after all my visits) then of course save room for a conservative assortment of deserts (different every visit) can include anything from creme brûlée to bread pudding.
