| - Funny! I really kept coming back to a-OK here, even though the expo and race logistics really were very good, loved the medal and had fun. It's interesting that others have voted similarly. I think for me:
1) The Strip came/went too quickly and then, at the end, there's no designated place - you can drink in the street and it seemed everyone dispersed quickly. Maybe just tired? IDK.
2) as a nocturnal being...I really thought I'd enjoy the night running but, turns out, I didn't (not just bcs of cold/dry desert temp but also, I wouldn't regularly set out for distance 13.1 at 6 pm). REAAAAALY long wait to start. In true Vegas-style, I met a guy, divorced my husband, married, had the first guy's baby, divorced him and then got re-married to my original husband and now we have an adopted Elvis. Wait?!? Then...I crossed the start line. By then, didn't know what to do at the run-by chapel except cheer for love.
4) ELVIS!! it was super-entertaining seeing all the Elvi, but honestly "Elvis is Alive and running a 5K" is truly my Elvis event! (Summer, Chicago, day) although it was hilarious to see an Elvis with one of those yard-long drinks walking this course.
5) the course died after the Strip - I didn't really love running into the face of "searchlight" type lights in near-by neighborhoods. Fremont was OK.
6) I must say...the Expo was HUGE and so well done.
If you are a Vegas-die-hard fan, you'd likely give this event four or five. I did like it enough to try it again - Elvis needs a little brother! ...so I'll update post-Nov 2015.
(PS - staying in a hotel near the finish - worked out well) reserve early! I already have for 2015...waited too long on 2014.
