| - Who is responsible for raising the price on the steak special? The prices went up and the quality went down. If my memory serves me correctly, the steak special use to be between $6.95-$7.95. it included a side salad, homemade Rootbeer, a 10-oz filet cut steak, your choice of potato, and garlic green beans. Now, they want you to have a tracking device, I mean a players card (even if you don't gamble) just to get the steak special for $9.99. By the way, that does not include the homemade Rootbeer, which will run you an additional $2.50.
As a Las Vegas local, I am outraged! I'm aware that I sound very frugal...because I am!!! If I were at an upscale steakhouse, with a nice atmosphere and attentive servers, this same meal would cost me at least $80, but the Ellis Island Cafe is a hole in the wall.
In regards to their service, it was my servers second day on the job (I'll cut her some slack because she was a sweetheart),however, it was Christmas and the restaurant was slammed. Why would management do that to their employee? I guess they believe in baptism by fire. Our server forgot to bring our salads, so they arrived well after we received our entrees. My husband had to find a steak knife for me because the staff was so overwhelmed.
With their new prices in effect, I urge everyone to mosey on over to Outback Steakhouse for a cheap steak special and a much shorter wait.
